Part 2 — 1177: The National Healthcare Information Portal

1177.se is Sweden's national healthcare guidance website, jointly operated by all of Sweden's regions. All national content is fact-checked by roughly 350 medical reviewers (doctors, nurses, dentists, and other healthcare professionals) across the country. A significant portion of the content is translated into 24 languages, and much of it is also available in "lätt svenska" (easy Swedish) for readers who find standard text difficult. Crucially, anyone who doesn't speak Swedish or has difficulty understanding medical information is entitled to a free interpreter (tolk) at healthcare and dental visits — you simply need to request one, ideally when booking the appointment, specifying which language you need.
